The Frozen Egg - Enhanced Edition - The Library by guimero64 The Frozen Egg - Enhanced Edition - The Library by guimero64
Fake Screenshot done for the contest The G.A.M.E

Game: The Frozen Egg - Enhanced Edition

Genre: Adventure, Point & Click

Description: The satellite Urh'Erl is inhabited by strange creatures, the strangest of them being the Rhel, a human-like species close to nature and with immense powers.
At certain age, they are allowed to go in the wild and find their familiar with whom they create a strong bond which unlock their dormant powers.

We follow the story of a young Iz'Aļa who is looking for his father, supposedly lost during a scientific expedition. His researches will lead him to a forest never approached by anyone because of the tales, filled with horror and mysteries, that are told about it.
What he will discover is yet unknown but one thing is sure: his life will be forever changed after this adventure...

Current Screen: Iz'Aļa needs to take the key of the basement where all classified information is stored. But the grumpy librarian needs to be distracted first...

Inspired heavily by Deponia [link] , a great game,
and by the library of Phatt Island in Monkey Island 2: Lechuck's Revenge [link] which was one of my favorite moments in the game!

Would be wonderful in an AGS-game, too. ;)

Now I wish I could afford to hire you for one of my projects. There are several games I have planned that your art would be perfect in.

BTW, love the choice of point and click adventure. Brings back fond memories of King's Quest, DOTT, and The Fate of Atlantis.

I would have loved that too but I need to go to art school first! :)
It's one of my dreams to work on a game.
And I'm glad that it reminds you of those good games!

Just remember that some of my games are old school with snes style graphics, so if you're interested I've got plenty of games to choose from that shouldn't be difficult for someone with your current skills. :D

Have you ever used RPG Maker?

No, but it's interesting! Is it difficult to use?
If I ever got time I could help you! :)

Nope. It doesn't require any programming skills, and the art is easy to modify and/or create since it's just png files that aren't even very large. The parallax backgrounds are the largest files and they are about 544x544 pixels. Basically the entire system runs off of pixel art that is 64x64 and looks like an old school snes game. There's also plenty of community made additions to choose from.

VX Ace is on sale on steam right now. It costs $35 (USD) till after tomorrow. But if you just want to try it out grab the VX Ace light version, which is the same as the other, but with limitations on the number of events, resources, and variables, as well as the license not allowing commercial games to be made in it, but it's a great way to learn how to use it without committing any money and you can always port your game into the full version and upgrade it later.

Let me know when you do have the time to get involved in one of my projects. :D
